The Department of Culture, Communication and Media (CCM ) is a department of IOE, UCL's Faculty of Education and Society. It is committed to excellence in teaching, research and consultancy in the areas of: Media and Cultural Studies, Art, Design and Museology; Academic writing; English education: Applied Linguistics; Music Education; Multimodality studies; Learning with Digital Technologies.
The Museums and Galleries in Education MA has a long and distinguished history for both those wishing to learn about the educational potential of the cultural sector and those wishing to expand their existing careers. The programme combines academic study with professional educational practice in museums, galleries and heritage sites looking at influential contemporary and historic theories in museum and gallery education. This programme also enables international collaborations to take place across the academic and professional field of museum studies.
About the role
You will play an important role in supporting Course Leader and preparing and delivering content for modules on the MA Museums and Galleries in Education. You will bring a valuable specialism to the range of expertise required for the programme and will supervise students' assignments and dissertations.
About you
With a doctorate (or close to completion) in the field of museum, heritage or education / museum and gallery education / cultural learning, you should have a good knowledge of recent developments in museums and galleries, from inclusion and accessibility to climate change, learning, and interpretation, as well as a strong understanding of participatory and socially engaged practices in museums and galleries.
