Job Ref: ED, ED Contract: Permanent Salary: Grade 4 SCP 6-11 (£25,989 - £28,142) Pro Rata Hours: 32.5 hrs per week, Term Time only (39 weeks) 8.30am-3.30pm (with 30 minutes lunch break) Start Date: 1st June 2026 or ASAP
The Governing Body and Headteacher are looking to appoint two enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to work as teaching assistants in our Year 1 and 2 settings across our inclusive, welcoming school that is at the heart of its community.
Severn Primary School is a happy, vibrant, culturally diverse inner-city school with a two-form entry, large nursery and wrap-around care provision. It is situated in the Canton area of Cardiff about a mile from the centre of the city.
Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils in class under the supervision and direction of the class teacher
- Working with ALN pupils on specific targets in their Individual Development Plans (IDP)
- Providing general support to the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom, including preparation and routine maintenance of resources and equipment
Qualifications and Skills
- Passionate about the learning and well-being of all pupils
- Highly professional, committed and enthusiastic
- Ability to provide a nurturing and caring approach to vulnerable pupils
- Works well as part of a team of adults in the classroom
- Good liaison with parents and carers
- Well developed Literacy, Numeracy and ICT skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
