Job Description
We are seeking dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistants (LSA) / Higher Level Teaching Assistants (with relevant specialist experience) to join our new Oasis Dowr specialist provision, supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and Communication and Interaction needs.
This specialist provision will extend our highly regarded Nurture offer in our main school and build on our established and inclusive reputation alongside upholding the articles within the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The Role
- Support pupils with SEMH and communication and interaction needs within Oasis Dowr, our specialist provision, and, where appropriate, in mainstream classrooms.
- Work closely with the SEND Specialist Teacher to deliver personalized learning and targeted interventions.
- Provide consistent emotional and behavioural support using restorative, Rights Respecting and trauma-informed approaches.
- Support the delivery of speech and language programmes under the guidance of teaching staff and external professionals.
- Promote positive engagement, independence and self-regulation strategies.
- Help create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment.
- Contribute to outdoor learning experiences.
- Work closely with families, building positive relationships and parental engagement.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience working with children with SEMH and/or communication and interaction needs (desirable).
- Demonstrates understanding of trauma-informed practice and nurturing approaches.
- Has experience supporting speech and language development (desirable).
- Is calm, resilient and able to respond flexibly to children's needs.
- Builds positive, trusting relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
- Is committed to inclusive education and to fostering a culture of belonging and will embrace the Rights Respecting Schools approach embedding the articles: 2 - No discrimination, 28 - Right to Education, 31 - Rest, Play, Culture, Arts and 3 - Best Interests of the child.
- Works well as part of a team and shows initiative.
- Has experience of outdoor learning; a Forest School qualification would be desirable.
