SEN Teaching Assistant - Secondary School (Bournemouth)
Full-Time Permanent Term Time Only (8:30am - 3:30pm)
GSL Education are proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Bournemouth to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their specialist provision on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a highly supportive SEN Resource Base, working closely under the guidance of the school's experienced SENCO. You will play a vital role in supporting students with additional needs to access learning, build confidence, and make meaningful progress both academically and socially.
The Role
You will be based within the school's SEN Resource Base, providing targeted support to students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). This will include 1:1 and small group support both within the classroom and in specialist settings.
Needs may include:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASD)
- Learning Difficulties (including Dyslexia)
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs
- Additional complex learning needs as identified within EHCPs
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Supporting students to engage with learning activities in class
- Adapting resources and approaches to meet individual needs
- Promoting independence, confidence, and emotional regulation
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff and the SENCO
- Contributing to a positive, structured and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who brings the right attitude, resilience and commitment to supporting young people with additional needs. You will ideally have:
- Previous experience working in a school setting (SEN experience highly desirable)
- OR transferable experience from care, youth work, support work, or similar roles
- A calm, patient and empathetic approach
- Strong resilience and a positive "can do" attitude
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people to succeed
