Clinical Practice Educator - Stroke Unit

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Practice Educator Band 6 to join the team on the Stroke Unit.
The Clinical Practice Educator is an exciting new opportunity and development for the Unit. This opportunity will enable the successful candidate to identify the training needs of all staff at ward level.

The stroke services are growing and we will soon become a 30 bedded unit with 2 Hyper Acute Stroke Unit bays.
The 23 bedded Acute Stroke Unit cares for patients requiring close monitoring and observation, encompassing acute care skills, following thrombolysis and repatriation following specialist intervention such as thrombectomy as well as patients requiring rehabilitation needs.
Main duties of the job
- Develop a bespoke induction training package which can then be rolled out to build and maintain standards for all staff on the Unit.
- Assist trained staff in the completion of their Wessex Stroke Competencies.
- Work with the members of the wider MDT and specialist nurses to enhance the educational programmes.
- Support all staff with completion of mandatory training compliance and ensure that the matrix is updated.
- Work with the Education team and CPEs in other divisions to ensure delivery of the core competencies programme.
Education, Qualifications and Training
- Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional.
- Recent evidence of CPD.
- Qualified Practice Assessor.
- Teaching qualification.
Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum of 3 years recent experience working in an acute hospital setting with an understanding of stroke.
- Evidence of specialty specific knowledge.
- Experience of supporting learners in practice.
- Experience of writing action plans for learners or staff who require additional support.
Skills and Abilities
- Evidence of ability to work as a proficient practitioner.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels, patients and the public.
- Effective time management.
- Understanding of clinical governance.
- Evidence of leadership and management skills or the ability to develop said skillset.
- Knowledge of clinical audit processes.
- Understanding of the importance of research and quality improvement on patient care.
- Ability to develop competency profiles.
- Working understanding of the Preceptorship framework.
- Working understanding of the Care Certificate framework.
- Working understanding of Apprenticeships.
