About the role
Community Kitchen is seeking a dedicated Chef Educator to lead our culinary initiatives and drive positive change within the Community Kitchen stocked at our Stocking Farm store.
You will need to think on your feet, use culinary expertise to produce freshly cooked, nutritious meals, and be confident and supportive in delivering Community Kitchen programmes and community based initiatives that respond to community needs. You should be ready to create positive changes, question and rethink concepts, assumptions and practices, and demonstrate leadership, initiative, and effective teamwork.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Work with the challenges of daily changing surplus food stocks to create nutritious meals.
- Lead and deliver Community Kitchen's social impact and culinary development programmes, including promotion and support of local communities through engaging activities.
- Assist retail and hub in driving membership to broaden Community Kitchen's social impact.
- Deliver in house training and development programmes.
- Collaborate with other organisations in the wider not for profit, social enterprise, public and private sectors to create new social impact opportunities that maximise synergistic and financial benefits for local people and members.
- Build understanding within the social sector and beyond Community Shop to support the development of our social impact business offer.
- Ensure all health, safety and environmental policies and practices are upheld.
- Engage your team and other departments to support cross functional and positive working relationships.
- Foster a supportive and high performing culture with consistent delivery, through excellent leadership and motivation, fully utilising and developing your teams' skills and capabilities.
- Keep up to date with information relevant to your department and cascade it accordingly to wider department teams.
Essential Qualifications
- Strong culinary background.
- NVQ Level 2 in Catering (or similar qualification).
- Food hygiene Level 2 or above.
- Knowledge of HACCP.
Desired and Advantageous
- Experience delivering effective cooking/training programmes.
- Experience working with vulnerable individuals.
- Experience gained within a community based setting.

07:30 - 17:00 Monday Friday (occasional flexibility may be required).
Salary
£28,868 per annum
