Sussex Teachers are recruiting a part-time Teaching Assistant in Brighton to join a supportive primary school in Whitehawk after Easter. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Primary Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), or Individual Needs Assistant (INA) seeking a temporary school support role in a friendly and inclusive school environment.
The school is easily accessible from Brighton town centre via regular bus routes, making it an ideal role for candidates travelling by public transport.
About the role
As a Year 5 Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside the class teacher to support pupils aged 9-10 years old, helping to deliver engaging lessons and ensuring all pupils can access the curriculum.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Year 5 class teacher during lessons
- Providing 1:1 support and small group learning support
- Assisting pupils with additional learning needs or behavioural support
- Encouraging pupil engagement and confidence in the classroom
This role will include supporting some pupils with challenging behaviour, so experience with behaviour management and maintaining a calm, consistent approach is important.
Requirements
To be considered for this Teaching Assistant job in Brighton, you should have:
- Recent experience supporting children (School, Care, or Nursery settings).
- Must be able to provide two professional references.
- Availability Monday to Friday, 8:30am-1:00pm.
