Position: Teaching Assistant - Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Location: Grey Court Campus - assignments may also be made to other schools within the agency's network.
Overview
Support teachers and pupils within SEN settings by providing guidance, encouragement, and behaviour management to promote learning and independence.
Responsibilities
- Assist pupils with SEN in classroom activities and transitions.
- Use positive reinforcement to encourage engagement and progress.
- Encourage independent work while monitoring and redirecting pupils who become distracted or struggle.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to create a calm, constructive learning environment.
- Apply training on behaviour management and support strategies acquired through the agency's pre placement programmes.
- Maintain clear communication with carers and school stakeholders to support pupil development.
Qualifications
Experience working with children with additional needs (e.g., ADHD, autism, non verbal, high functioning) is desirable; not explicitly required. Successful completion of DBS and relevant training is expected.
