About the Role
Axcis Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a SEND school team in Plymouth, supporting pupils with autism and speech, language and communication needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism and speech and language needs
- Support pupils with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
- Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies
- Use visual supports and structured approaches to support learning and engagement
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff and therapists
- Promote independence, confidence and positive relationships
Essential Requirements
- Experience supporting children or young people with autism (in a school, care or similar setting)
- A clear understanding of autism and associated communication needs
- A patient, empathetic and consistent approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience using Makaton and/or PECS
- Knowledge of speech and language support strategies
- Previous experience in a SEND or specialist school setting

Contract: Full time
Start Date: February 2026
Pay: £90-£95 per day (dependent on experience)
