Thinking about a change from industry?
If you're an experienced software engineer who enjoys mentoring others, reviewing code, or helping junior developers grow, this could be your next step.
At Manchester Metropolitan University, you'll have the opportunity to shape the next generation of software engineers, bringing your real-world experience into a modern, industry-focused learning environment.
Why Make the Move to Education?

- Share your expertise - turn your experience into meaningful teaching and mentoring
- Structured career progression - clear pathway from Lecturer to Professor (education-focused)
- Support to transition - we'll help you develop as an educator, even if you've never taught before

- Work with apprentices employed in industry, bringing real-world challenges into the classroom
- Design hands-on projects and coding-based learning experiences
- Help students build the skills employers actually need
