Overview:We are looking for a Junior IT Support Assistant to join the IT Operations Team on an 18-month fixed-term apprenticeship programme. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their IT career who enjoys solving problems, helping people, and learning how technology supports a growing international business.
You will work closely with the IT Operations Manager and wider business teams to provide day-to-day technical support across devices, software, collaboration tools, user onboarding, and digital workplace services. Alongside your practical experience, you will complete a structured apprenticeship programme over 17 months, building the technical and professional skills needed for a long-term career in IT. This position will be based in our Knaresborough office and is expected to be full-time. A genuine interest in renewable energy is desirable.
Responsibilities:
Provide first-line IT support to colleagues across the business, both remotely and in person
Assist with laptop builds, device setup, software installation, and user onboarding
Support Microsoft 365 services including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and mobile access
Troubleshoot common hardware, software, printer, and connectivity issues
Log, update, prioritise, and resolve requests in line with agreed service expectations
Escalate complex issues appropriately while maintaining clear communication with users
Help manage user accounts, password resets, access permissions, and device records
Support office meeting room technology, AV equipment, and collaboration tools
Assist with routine IT checks, asset audits, warranty tracking, and stock management
Support rollout activities for new systems, upgrades, and process improvements
Create and maintain simple user guides, FAQs, and knowledge base articles
Follow IT security, data protection, and acceptable use policies in all support activities
Take part in apprenticeship learning, coursework, mentoring sessions, and professional development reviews
Desirable skills:
A strong interest in IT, technology, and problem solving
Great communication skills with a helpful and approachable style working with users of all abilities and levels of seniority
Good organisational skills and the ability to manage tasks effectively
A willingness to learn new systems, tools, and ways of working
Good attention to detail, especially when documenting issues and solutions
Basic familiarity with hardware, Microsoft Office, and common workplace technology
Able to work well independently and as part of a collaborative team
Previous experience in a customer service, helpdesk, retail tech, or office support environment
Exposure to Microsoft 365 administration
An interest in cyber security, device management, and remote management tools
Experience setting up laptops, phones, printers, or user accounts
Awareness of IT ticketing systems or asset registers
Interest in scripting, automation, or cyber awareness
A passion for sustainability or renewable energy
Must hold a UK driving licence
Entry requirements:
3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.
If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Providing successfully passing your apprenticeship and meeting company requirements, there could be a full-time position at the end of the apprenticeship.
