Position: Lecturer in Maths (Functional Skills & GCSE)
Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and committed Maths Lecturers to join our team. This role involves delivering high-quality teaching across Entry Level and Level 2 Functional Skills, and/or GCSE Maths to learners aged 16–18 and/or adults. We also offer full‑time and part‑time positions with permanent, hourly‑paid, and fixed‑term contracts, supporting learners to develop essential skills for employment, further study, and personal progression.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver engaging and high-quality Maths lessons (Functional Skills Entry Level to Level 2 and/or GCSE) to learners of varying abilities
• Plan and prepare schemes of work, lesson materials, and assessments
• Use digital and multimedia resources to enhance learning
• Assess learner work and provide constructive feedback
• Act as a course tutor, supporting learners to achieve their targets
• Maintain accurate learner records and support programme administration
• Participate in curriculum planning, team meetings, and standardisation activities
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the curriculum
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
• Degree in Mathematics or a related subject
• Teaching qualification (Certificate in Education or Level 5 teaching qualification)
• Experience delivering and assessing Functional Skills Maths; GCSE experience desirable
• Strong understanding of assessment, internal verification, and learner support
• Ability to prepare engaging learning materials and adapt teaching to diverse learner needs
• Excellent organisational, administrative, and communication skills
• Confident using technology to support teaching and learning
Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding
To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£31,837 - £48,160), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications.
• DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
• Certificate in Education
• PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
• ProfGCE (Professional Graduate Certificate in Education)
• DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
• DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject
If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (£26,661 - £29,998).
