Your next opportunity
If you are building your academic career and want to do so somewhere that is genuinely investing in its people and its portfolio, this is a compelling moment to join us. You will be part of a growing, ambitious team, contributing to technically rigorous, professionally relevant curriculum that serves a diverse and international student community. Our faculty has active research interests in digital transformation and AI, sustainable engineering and advanced manufacturing, and cybersecurity and resilience, and we are looking for colleagues who want to contribute to and develop that agenda alongside their teaching.
We are recruiting at Lecturer / Senior Lecturer level in Engineering, where you will shape the delivery of high‑quality, applied engineering education across undergraduate, postgraduate and off‑campus programmes. You will provide academic and programme leadership, championing innovative, practice‑based learning that connects theory with real‑world engineering challenges.
Working closely with industry partners, colleagues and students, you will strengthen curriculum relevance, embed enterprise and multidisciplinary project work, and support excellent student outcomes. Alongside teaching and leadership, you will contribute to applied research and knowledge exchange through funded projects, consultancy and professional engagement, helping to enhance employability, innovation and the Faculty’s impact regionally, nationally and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver high‑quality teaching and assessment across undergraduate, postgraduate and off‑campus engineering programmes, ensuring excellent student experience and outcomes.
• Lead the integration of applied and experiential learning, including live industry briefs, real‑world design challenges and authentic assessment approaches.
• Develop and maintain strong partnerships with regional and national engineering employers to enhance curriculum relevance, student projects and employability.
• Champion innovative, practice‑based pedagogy by embedding industry‑standard tools, technologies and professional practices across engineering disciplines.
• Drive enterprise, innovation and entrepreneurship within engineering programmes, supporting multidisciplinary and start‑up focused student activity.
• Lead the design and delivery of multidisciplinary engineering projects across mechanical, electronic, automotive and manufacturing areas.
• Contribute to the School’s research and knowledge‑exchange strategy by securing funding, delivering projects and acting as a Faculty ambassador for applied innovation.
Is this you?
You bring significant teaching experience in your discipline or strong, relevant industry practice, alongside experience of conducting research within the field. You are knowledgeable about contemporary learning and teaching approaches, aware of current disciplinary trends, and committed to supporting students in both their academic studies and personal development.
Ideally, you will also have experience within higher education teaching, recruitment activity and people management, bringing a well‑rounded contribution to teaching, leadership and student success. You hold a postgraduate or Master’s degree in a relevant subject area, with a PhD/Doctorate and a higher‑education teaching qualification or professional recognition (such as PG Cert or HEA Fellowship) being desirable.
If you are passionate about your discipline and want to help shape how the next generation of engineers are educated, we would love to hear from you.
