About the Role
We are seeking a Freelance Apprenticeship Assessor to deliver and assess the Senior Healthcare Support Worker Level 3 Apprenticeship, with a specific focus on the Theatre Support or Maternity Support pathway.
You will support apprentices through their learning journey, ensuring timely progress, high-quality assessment, and successful achievement, in line with apprenticeship standards and awarding body requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality assessment and learner support for the Senior Healthcare Support Worker Level 3 Apprenticeship
- Deliver online workshops to small groups of apprentices
- Assess learner portfolios against the apprenticeship standard and pathway requirements
- Prepare apprentices for End-Point Assessment (EPA)
- Maintain accurate and compliant learner records in line with the ESFA, Ofsted, and awarding body requirements
- Liaise effectively with employers, apprentices, and internal teams
- Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, and professional practice at all times
Essential Requirements
- Relevant assessor qualification (e.g. CAVA, TAQA, A1/D32/D33)
- Occupational competence and current or recent experience in either a theatre support / operating department / perioperative healthcare environment or within maternity services
- Recent CPD within the theatre environment or maternity environment
- Excellent communication, organisation, and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently as a freelancer
- Access to a laptop and reliable internet
Desirable
The knowledge and experience outlined below are desirable but not essential. Full training and support will be provided.
- Experience assessing or supporting apprentices in healthcare (Level 3 or above)
- Experience working with apprenticeship funding rules and compliance
- Sound knowledge of the Senior Healthcare Support Worker Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
- Experience using e-portfolio systems

Safeguarding & DBS
