#### **Board of Governors**
**Location:** Lincoln
**Closing Date:** Tuesday 07 April 2026
**Reference:** BOG26A
The Board of Governors plays a focal role in the strategic development and overall performance of the University of Lincoln, and membership of the Board offers a rewarding opportunity for individuals to play a key part in enhancing the University’s success and reputation regionally, nationally and internationally, as well as personal development and networking opportunities that this brings.
The Board is opening recruitment to the role of Staff Governor, following internal promotion of the previous Staff Governor.
The Staff Governor should, from their experience, particularly as a member of staff, bring real insight to the proceedings of the Board. They hold the same level of accountability and authority as Independent Members and must act with and accept collective responsibility for decisions reached by the Board.
The Board meets six times a year, with a strategic away day combined with a formal meeting. The Staff Governor will also join the Honours Committee (2x meetings pa) and Apprenticeships and Skills Oversight Group (3x meetings pa).
The University of Lincoln is an increasingly diverse community of students and staff, and it seeks to reflect that in its Board of Governors. Applications are welcome from individuals of any race, sex, disability, religion, belief, age, or sexual orientation. As part of our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, applications are particularly welcome from individuals who can bring diverse perspectives and experiences to our Board.
Interested individuals should submit a covering letter outlining their expertise and experience with reference to the role descriptor and their CV, to governors@lincoln.ac.uk by 7 Apr 2026. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in Apr/May 2026.
Please contact Aaron Smith, Secretary to the Board via aarsmith@lincoln.ac.uk if you wish to arrange an informal conversation about this opportunity.
Alternatively, Jacqueline Drury (previous Staff Governor) has also advised she would be happy to discuss the role and her experience with interested colleagues (jdrury@lincoln.ac.uk).
An applicant pack, containing the role descriptor, can be found below this vacancy.
