About The Role
Balfour Beatty Living Places are seeking an Employment & Skills Coordinator to support our growing education, skills and early careers programmes across Warwickshire.
In this role you will coordinate a range of employment and skills activities including T Level industry placements, apprenticeship promotion and candidate sourcing, in-person and virtual work experience programmes, and wider education engagement with schools, colleges and universities.
You will develop strong partnerships with local education providers and regional skills organisations (including Careers Hubs, Skills Hubs, Chambers of Commerce and LSIP partners) to help build sustainable early talent pipelines.
This role is key to supporting the contract’s commitments to employment, skills, ED&I, and social impact, helping develop a diverse and future-ready workforce across the region
What you'll be doing
As an Employment & Skills Coordinator, you will have the following accountabilities:
Education & Skills Pathways
• Manage the end-to-end coordination of T Level industry placements, including sourcing candidates, designing programmes and supporting business teams.
• Lead on the delivery of in-person and virtual work experience programmes, ensuring high-quality, curriculum-aligned content.
• Build strong working relationships with schools, colleges and universities across Warwickshire to promote sector careers and engagement opportunities.
• Promote and support apprenticeship recruitment, encouraging candidates from priority groups and creating progression pathways within Balfour Beatty.
• Support operational teams to host students and early career learners safely and effectively.
Partnership & Stakeholder Development
• Develop partnerships with regional organisations
• Represent the contract at skills networks, careers groups and sector taskforce meetings.
• Maintain awareness of regional skills priorities, including the West Midlands & Warwickshire LSIP, and align programmes to local employer needs.
Educational Outreach & Engagement
• Deliver the contract’s commitments to education engagement, coordinating volunteer speakers, workshops, and sector talks.
• Encourage and grow the number of STEM Ambassadors across the contract.
• Support delivery of the BioBuilders Environmental Education Programme, promoting.
• understanding of biodiversity and environmental careers
Reporting & Social Value Outcomes
• Track, monitor and report on all placements, work experience, apprenticeship outcomes and education engagements.
• Ensure accurate recording of key metrics to evidence social value and contract commitments.
• Produce case studies, newsletters, updates and good news stories celebrating skills and education achievements.
Who we're looking for
Essential
• A genuine passion for supporting people into education, skills and employment pathways.
• Understanding of post-16 education and early careers routes including T Levels, apprenticeships and work experience.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with internal teams and external partners.
• Experience coordinating events, placements, workshops or multi-stakeholder programmes.
• Strong administrative and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple commitments.
• Strong IT skills across Microsoft 365 and confidence with digital tools for reporting outcomes.
• Understanding of the local education/skilled labour landscape in Warwickshire or West Midlands.
Desirable
• Experience in a skills, employability, education liaison or early careers role.
• Knowledge of Local Skills Improvement Plans (LSIPs) or regional workforce priorities.
• Experience delivering careers workshops or engaging with young people.
• Familiarity with STEM outreach, ED&I initiatives and community engagement.
