About the Role
We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Lecturers in the Counselling programme to teach across undergraduate levels within the BSc and MSc. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about education, widening participation, and supporting students from diverse backgrounds. It is also well‑suited for those who wish to bring practical experience from real‑world counselling practice into their teaching.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high quality, engaging teaching sessions across undergraduate Psychology modules.
- Design, plan and update teaching materials that reflect current research, industry practice and pedagogical innovation.
Essential Skills and Experience
- A Master’s degree (MSc or equivalent Level 7 qualification) in Counselling, Psychotherapy, Psychology, or an aligned field.
- Membership of an appropriate professional body with a complaints procedure to which you are subject.
- Familiarity with, and agreement to work within, the current BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
- Experience of teaching in UK higher education.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Current BACP counsellor/psychotherapist accreditation or be registered with an appropriate professional body to an equivalent level
- In current or previous supervised practice as a counsellor
- A Doctoral level qualification in counselling and/ or a demonstrable track record in research or other scholarly activity of relevance to counselling and/or demonstrable success at an equivalent level professionally.
- Teaching qualification: PGCHE, MA in HE Practice or FHEA etc
- A Doctoral level qualification in counselling and/ or a demonstrable track record in research or other scholarly activity of relevance to counselling and/or demonstrable success at an equivalent level professionally.
