*Please note this is a 2 year Fixed-Term Contract*Overview of roleThe Digital Skills Trainer is part of the Digital Skills Development Team based within Organisational Development. The team works to help staff throughout King’s develop their digital skills, so they may effectively and safely carry out their roles using the technology available to them.
Reporting to the Lead Digital Skills Trainer, this role will involve creating online guides and delivering recorded, live online, and in person training sessions on topics related to digital literacy and research systems.
The guidance and training will be available to all staff at King’s and will include enterprise-wide systems including Worktribe, Pure and Stratocore as well as general digital literacy, cyber security and Microsoft 365 tools. Other systems will come into scope as the role develops.
The post will be based in Cornwall but will require occasional visits to our London campuses for meetings and delivering in person training.
Accountabilities- Delivering courses on how to use our research systems.
- Creating and updating guidance and training materials.
- Keeping up to date with system updates, new technologies and new ways of working.
- Maintaining good connections with IT specialists.
- Maintaining good connections with the teams that own and use the research systems.
- Participating in testing of new IT services and service improvements.
- Assisting with taking course bookings, liaising with trainees and collecting feedback
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties and projects as requested by the Head of Digital Skills Development
Key Skills & Experience Required
(E) – Essential(D) – Desirable- Good knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams (E)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (E)
- Confident and professional presentation skills (E)
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and systems (E)
- Ability to understand technical terms and concepts and then explain these in simple terms to non-technical colleagues. (E)
- Ability to work independently and with others as part of a team (E)
- Self-motivated, able to manage own workload, and problem solve (E)
- Willingness to travel to London when required (E)
- Experience of creating guidance and delivering training (D)
- Experience of working within Higher Education (D)
