The Role
The Head of Apprenticeship Compliance is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring that all apprenticeship provision is delivered in full accordance with apprenticeship funding rules, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards.
The role includes managing the funding and compliance team as well as providing strategic oversight of compliance frameworks, funding assurance processes, audit readiness, and data integrity across the apprenticeship lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance
- Maintain expert oversight of government funding compliance requirements.
- Ensure adherence to apprenticeship standards, funding rules, and quality assurance requirements across all programmes.
- Lead regular compliance audits using internal IMS systems, tracking tools, and government funding report management processes to assess risk and drive continuous improvement.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments to implement corrective actions and strengthen compliance controls.
Funding
- Manage the end-to-end process for government funding claim returns and funding monitoring reporting, ensuring submissions are accurate and compliant.
- Verify and validate data to confirm the integrity and completeness of funding claims and applications.
- Act as the main contact for funding bodies, external auditors, and relevant authorities, responding to queries and supplying required documentation.
- Monitor changes to government funding rules and eligibility criteria, embedding updates into operational processes.
Reporting
- Ensure all government funding documentation is accurate, compliant, and audit-ready.
- Establish and maintain a centralised system for the secure storage and organisation of funding records.
- Produce detailed reports and analysis relating to compliance performance, claim outcomes, and funding utilisation for senior leadership.
Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead and manage the Funding and Compliance Team, allocating responsibilities and setting clear performance standards.
- Work with finance, delivery, and operational teams to ensure alignment between apprenticeship compliance processes and funding claim activity.
- Serve as a senior point of contact for employers, funding agencies, government bodies, and auditors.
- Provide clear guidance to apprenticeship onboarding and delivery teams regarding compliance requirements.
Training and Continuous Improvement
- Develop and deliver training to internal stakeholders on compliance obligations and best practice.
- Stay informed of changes in apprenticeship government funding legislation and communicate relevant updates across the organisation.
- Provide support to reinforce compliance expectations throughout programme delivery.
Person Specification
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Proven experience in apprenticeship compliance and government-funded training programmes.
- Strong knowledge of government funding rules and compliance requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy in documentation and reporting.
- Experience using claims management systems, databases, and reporting tools.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
- Analytical capability to identify compliance risks and implement effective solutions.
- The ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
