The School of Sciences at Bath Spa University is expanding, based on its recent successes, into health-related areas broadly. We are particularly keen to recruit someone who can contribute to these exciting, multi-disciplinary, new endeavours. The psychology subject area within the School of Sciences, is becoming known as a hub for applying psychology to improve the lives of people in local communities and beyond; we are looking for a new lecturer/senior lecturer to join us in supporting that mission. We are specifically recruiting someone who can contribute to investigative, criminal, and/or forensic psychology along with contributing more broadly to our core BPS accredited psychology curriculum.
The successful candidate will help design and deliver teaching content across a range of modules at Levels 4 to 7 in Psychology Programmes, as well as supervising undergraduate and/or postgraduate dissertation students. They will contribute to curriculum design and development and be dedicated to inclusive pedagogy and enhancing student experience. They will also engage in research or scholarly activity in Psychology in support of the university’s research and knowledge exchange strategies They will have the opportunity to develop new courses and help guide the focus of teaching and research in Psychology at Bath Spa University.
About You
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who will be able to teach Psychology, with a particular focus on applied Psychology at all undergraduate levels, who has a BPS-accredited degree in Psychology and experience teaching or researching applied Psychology, though we will consider applicants with other relevant backgrounds.
The successful candidate will be keen to contribute to activities such as involvement with open days, public events and building appropriate links with business and the community, as well as being involved in moderation and other quality assurance processes. They will have the aptitude for developing educational partnerships. They will have excellent networking and communication skills, flexible and adaptable to change and be a committed team player.
Additional Information
The salary range shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay. Please note that our default position is to appoint into the lower end of the range, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Applicants with fewer than five years teaching experience in Higher Education of at least 0.8 FTE or equivalent who do not hold a Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Certificate accredited by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or HEA fellowship will be required to complete an approved Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education course during the first two years of employment.
Applicants with more than five years teaching experience in Higher Education of at least 0.8FTE or equivalent who do not hold a Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Certificate accredited by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or HEA fellowship will be required to accredit their practice through the HEA fellowship application process during their 6-month probation period.
