The Role: We are seeking to appoint a full-time, permanent Lecturer in Psychology, within the School of Psychology, Sport and Health Sciences at the University of Portsmouth. We offer BPS accredited undergraduate and postgraduate psychology courses with a long-standing reputation for delivering high-quality training in the field.
School Context
All activities (education, research, innovation) within the school strategically align to our world leading research themes and centres: International Centre for Research in Forensic Psychology; Culture, Behaviour, Inclusivity and Governance; Quality of Life, Health and Wellbeing; Extreme Environments and Occupational Performance; Physical Activity, Health and Rehabilitation; Centre for Comparative and Evolutionary Psychology; Centre for Interaction, Development and Diversity; Dog Cognition Centre; and Centre for Integrated Health and Wellbeing Research.
The school currently offers a range of taught courses including the following in the area of Psychology: BSc (Hons) Psychology; BSc (Hons) Forensic Psychology; BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Psychology; MSc Health Psychology; MSc Forensic Psychology; MSc Sport and Exercise Psychology; MSc Psychology and Learning Disability; MSc Psychology. In addition, the school offers a variety of research degrees (MRes, MPhil, PhD, Professional Doctorate) and has several UK and international educational partnerships.
Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this role is to work with colleagues and act as a team member to contribute to the delivery and design of our undergraduate and postgraduate Psychology programmes responding to students’ needs as members of a teaching team. The candidate should have skills and expertise that complements and/or extends that of the existing research centres/themes. We especially encourage applications from candidates who can contribute to our core BPS modules.
Summary of Criteria
Candidates should have expertise in a relevant area of Psychology. The successful candidate would contribute to various academic activities (e.g., teaching, scholarship, supervision, research / innovation) in accordance with the School and Faculty objectives. They would actively seek to enhance the student experience and student employability and enterprise opportunities in addition to supporting the School in its marketing, outreach and widening participation activities.
Whilst there is a need to be in Portsmouth a few days a week, hybrid working is available for this role.
