Job Summary
The School of Healthcare Sciences is looking to appoint a Senior Lecturer (Midwifery) who will significantly contribute to midwifery research within the School of Healthcare Sciences.The post holder will deliver high-quality and research-led teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and contribute to the research record of the School through commitment to carrying out research leading to the publishing of work in high-quality journals.Applications are invited from candidates with a strong and dynamic research profile in the area of midwifery and maternity care research, which has direct relevance to improving care for women and babies. The appointed person will be committed to delivering the highest quality research and education in midwifery.All candidates must have current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council.
Qualifications and Education
- Postgraduate degree at PhD level in a Midwifery related subject area or relevant clinical experience.
- Current registration as a Midwife on the NMC Register.
- Postgraduate Certificate in University Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification or evidence of equivalent experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- A well-established expertise and significant proven portfolio of research and/or relevant clinical experience within Midwifery / maternity services / care of women and newborn infants.
- Substantial teaching experience at undergraduate/postgraduate level, demonstrating teaching innovation and course development and design.
- Established national and growing international reputation within academic field.
- Proven substantial record of publications in high-impact national and international journals.
- Proven record of contributing to and leading successful research bids.
- Pastoral, Communication and Team Working
- Proven record of leadership in academic / clinical field.
- The ability to provide appropriate pastoral support to students, appreciate the needs of individual students and their circumstances and to act as a personal tutor.
