The Role
We are seeking a full-time Lecturer (Teaching Focus) in Conservation Science to teach students on our BSc Biology, BSc Zoology and BSc Ecology and Conservation courses. The role holder will deliver modules on Marine Ecology and Biodiversity, and Conservation Science, plus other modules as agreed with the Head of Department. The post will involve giving lectures, running practical's, supervising undergraduate research projects, and setting and marking assessments. The appointee will also contribute to a Marine Biology residential field course, held in Millport during the summer vacation. The role holder will contribute to the Department’s pastoral support processes by running small group tutorials, and to our student recruitment efforts by helping with outreach and Open Days. The appointee will be expected to take increasing responsibility over time within administrative roles in the Department. The post is available from 2 September 2026.
About You
You hold a PhD degree in a relevant discipline and subject expertise in the required areas. You will have demonstrated experience in delivering high quality undergraduate teaching and hold Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. You are highly motivated and have excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills. This post provides an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their teaching in a dynamic and intellectually stimulating environment, and to grow into a leadership role.
