You will teach vocational subjects at a variety of levels, to a diverse range of students subjects may include: Uniformed Emergency Services, ICT, literacy, wellbeing, volunteering and assisting with events, Mental Health and Wellbeing (SCQF Level 4) Wellbeing, Employability, Literacy and personal development units at SCQF levels 2-4). As a professional member of the teaching staff of the College, you will be responsible for the preparation of lessons; the teaching of students and the marking and assessment of their work.
To apply for this position you must have a relevant degree level qualification, or equivalent, or have recent and relevant demonstrable experience with teaching within the Adult Education sector and have broad demonstrable experience of working with students with low Basic Skills.
Due to the occupational requirement to deliver the team’s women’s projects, this role involves working with vulnerable women and therefore only female candidates can be considered for this role as permitted under schedule 9 part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
The successful candidate must be fully IT literate and ideally have experience of delivering accredited IT qualifications up to SCQF Level 4 within a community setting as well as an awareness of using synthetic phonics to teach Adult Literacy. They will also ideally have experience of development and delivery using a VLE, although this is not essential.
A TQFE/PDA in teaching FE or equivalent teaching qualification and previous teaching experience of working with people with challenging/chaotic backgrounds and the ability to adapt to change, are also desirable.
