Learning & Development Manager
Location: UK with national travel
Employment Type: Full-time, permanent
Salary: 50,000-55,000 with 10% (company & personal) bonus
Location/Hybrid: This is a hybrid role, typically requiring 1–2 days per week either in the office or at a national location (Hertfordshire/Essex), with the remainder working from home. Head office is based in Victoria.
Note: The client is open to part-time (3 /4 days per week)
We are partnering with a respected organisation seeking an experienced and proactive Learning & Development Manager to lead the design, delivery and ongoing evolution of their learning strategy. This role plays a key part in strengthening organisational capability, shaping development pathways, and fostering a culture of growth, performance, and talent retention.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with managers, teams and key stakeholders to understand capability needs, create effective learning solutions, and drive L&D initiatives that directly support wider business objectives. Key Responsibilities
Business Partnering
- Provide expert advice and guidance on all Learning & Development matters.
- Work collaboratively with teams and managers to support capability and skills development.
- Lead new L&D projects aligned to organisational strategy and objectives.
- Develop, review and maintain L&D policies and procedures.
- Support and enhance the induction process for new starters.
- Manage relationships with external training partners, suppliers and consultants.
Learning & Development Strategy
- Lead and deliver L&D projects in line with the wider strategy.
- Promote and embed a coaching and mentoring culture.
- Partner with HR leadership on annual talent review processes.
- Support the creation of individual development plans and succession plans.
Training & Development
- Assess training and capability needs across departments.
- Design and deliver high-quality learning programmes, including leadership, induction and personal development training.
- Coordinate training schedules, logistics and attendance.
- Select and manage external providers where appropriate.
- Maintain and deliver the Annual Training Plan.
- Evaluate learning interventions, reporting on ROI and key performance indicators.
Compliance & LMS Ownership
- Oversee compliance learning and completion rates via the Learning Management System.
- Maintain compliance matrices and conduct annual stakeholder reviews.
- Fully manage and optimise the LMS.
- Design, develop or source digital learning content.
Talent Pathways & Career Development
- Advise on professional and academic qualification routes.
- Develop and implement a Skills & Competency Framework.
- Build clear career pathways across key roles.
- Continuously improve the onboarding and induction experience.
- Maximise use of the Apprenticeship Levy.
Reporting & Budget
- Produce monthly compliance reports and quarterly L&D KPIs.
- Support budget planning and management for L&D spend.
Experience & Attributes

- Strong multi-site operational experience is highly desirable

Experience
- 4–6 years’ experience in Learning & Development.
- Proven experience developing managers, teams and talent pathways.
- Background working across both large organisations and SMEs (retail and hospitality desirable)
- Strong knowledge of MS Office and LMS platforms.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle; national travel required (Business mileage reimbursed)
