Bath Spa University is looking to recruit an EAP Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to work in the English Language Unit (ELU). The ELU is a small team based within the Learning, Innovation & Skills Unit but with university-wide responsibility for supporting students with English as an additional language (EAL) and academic skills.
This ELU role is based in Bath Spa University’s Hackney campus in London. The role will involve visiting other BSU campuses and educational partners. The role will be managed by the Head of the ELU who are based at the Newton Park campus, Bath.
About the Role
You will provide high-quality language and academic skills support to students through classes, tutorials, and collaborative initiatives across the University. The role involves designing and delivering engaging in-sessional (and potentially pre-sessional) programmes, creating effective curricula, assessing learners and giving timely feedback, and maintaining accurate administrative records.
You will work closely with academic and professional services staff to enhance the experience of students who use English as an additional language, offering workshops, observations, one-to-one support, and contributing to module delivery. The post also includes contributing to the design, delivery, moderation, and evaluation of English language tests, working with Admissions and Recruitment teams, and may involve occasional UK and international travel.
About You
- A good first degree or equivalent
- DELTA (or equivalent)
- Higher education EAP teaching experience
- Experience working with students that meet widening participation criteria
- Experience of English language testing
- A relevant master’s degree (e.g., Applied Linguistics/TESOL)
- Experience of creating language test items
- Data management experience
