Inspire the next generation of biomedical scientists. Curtin University’s Medical School is seeking a passionate and experienced Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (Teaching & Research) to join our vibrant Biomedical Science team. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the learning experience for large, diverse cohorts of first-year students, while contributing to impactful research in physiology and related biomedical sciences.
This continuing part-time (0.5 FTE) role is ideal for an academic looking to balance teaching and research with other professional or industry commitments. You will join a collegial and supportive environment where flexible working days can be negotiated once teaching schedules are confirmed.
Your new role
- Deliver engaging and innovative physiology teaching to undergraduate students, with a focus on large first-year interdisciplinary units within the Bachelor of Biomedical Science.
- Contribute to curriculum design and pedagogy that inspires students and supports their transition into university‑level biomedical study.
- Undertake high‑quality, competitive research in physiology or related biomedical science disciplines, including supervising honours and higher degree by research students.
- Provide academic leadership by mentoring early career academics, coordinating courses or units, and contributing to the broader life of the Curtin Medical School.
Selection Criteria
We are looking for someone who is excited by teaching at scale, passionate about student learning, and ready to make a meaningful contribution to our team.
You will have:
- A doctoral qualification in Physiology or a closely related field.
- Proven ability to teach and engage large student cohorts with reflective, innovative approaches to learning design.
- Experience in curriculum development, unit or course coordination, and leadership in teaching innovation.
- A research record in physiology or biomedical science, including quality publications and success in competitive research funding.
- Leadership capability, mentoring experience, and a collaborative approach to supporting colleagues and students.
- High level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster the development of a collegial and supportive working environment.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage meaningfully with students, peers, and industry.
