We are looking for experts with lived experience of learning disabilities and/or autism to join our Oliver McGowan training team. You will deliver mandatory training in Learning Disability and Autism to health and social care staff, classroom teachers, and via online webinars. The goal is to help people understand and improve support for those with learning disabilities and autism.
You will be confident speaking to staff in groups, using a script and supported by a facilitator. Full training and ongoing support will develop your facilitation skills.

- Learning disability awareness and/or understanding autism

- Supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people with mental health conditions
- Communication skills
- Supporting young people with a learning disability
Responsibilities
- Work with co‑facilitators/trainer team to deliver training sessions across the region, including online webinars and face‑to‑face groups of up to 30 participants (typically 3‑hour sessions).
- Deliver sessions using a variety of methods (traditional training, group discussion, film) following the provided script.
- Participate in training and rehearsals to build confidence and improve delivery.
- Review and provide feedback on training effectiveness; contribute suggestions for continuous improvement.
- Assist with induction and training of new facilitators.
- Maintain equipment (e.g., laptop, whiteboard, pens) and report replacements if needed.
- Communicate key information to stakeholders, promote the training, and encourage attendance.
- Travel independently to venues across the region; a flexible schedule may include evenings or weekends.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold Trust policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Skills- Lived experience of learning disability and/or autism; comfortable speaking in groups.
- Understanding of reasonable adjustments and inclusive training practices.
- Excellent communication, relationship‑building, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work flexibly and manage time and resources effectively.
