Assistant/Associate Professor in Urban Planning

Assistant Professor salary is no less than £68,087 per annum. Associate Professor salary is no less than £80,927 per annum. The salary scale can be found on the LSE Website.
We are recruiting two positions: one Assistant Professor and one Associate Professor in Urban Planning, based in the Department of Geography and Environment. The successful candidates will contribute to the intellectual life of the School through conducting and publishing outstanding quality research, engaging in high‑quality teaching as instructed by the Head of Department, and participating in the School and wider Department activities. They will also join a longstanding and successful MSc programme in Regional and Urban Planning Studies.
As an Assistant/Associate Professor you will have expertise and research interests in urban planning: specifically in one or more of the following areas: Planning for Sustainable Cities, Land Use Planning Regulation, and/or Planning Law.
Assistant Professor Requirements
- PhD in urban planning or a relevant field, or be close to obtaining one by the post start date.
- Proven ability, as evidenced by existing publications, or potential to publish, in top journals in planning or closely related fields.
- A clear, well‑developed and viable strategy for future outstanding research.
- Ability to teach planning courses at the graduate level. Ability to teach human/urban geography courses at the undergraduate level is desirable.
Associate Professor Requirements
- PhD in urban planning or a relevant field.
- Track record of publishing in top journals in planning and/or related fields.
- A clear, well‑developed strategy for sustained high‑quality research.
