Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join Sandwell College Group as we open our brand-new, state-of-the-art campus — a forward-thinking environment designed to inspire and support both staff and students. We are seeking a passionate and committed Lecturer in Early Years & Education to deliver high-quality, engaging teaching that prepares learners for careers in childcare, early years, and education settings. You will play a key role in developing students’ skills, knowledge, and confidence, contributing to their success and progression into further study or employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and inclusive lessons across Early Years and Education programmes
- Contribute to curriculum planning, design, and development to ensure programmes meet learner and employer needs
- Prepare schemes of work, assessments, and learning materials that promote achievement and progression
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and achievement
- Act as a course tutor, providing personal tutoring and pastoral support to learners
Skills, Knowledge And Expertise
- A degree and/or relevant professional qualification in Early Years or Education (or working towards)
- A Certificate in Education or Level 5 Teaching Qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
- Experience of delivering high-quality teaching and learning within Early Years or Education programmes
- Experience of preparing and evaluating effective learning materials
- Knowledge of key skills and functional skills within a vocational context
- Experience of internal verification or moderation
Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding
To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£31,837 - £48,160), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications:
- DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
- Certificate in Education
- PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
- DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
- DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject
If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (£26,661 - £29,998).
Not Accepted as Stand Alone Qualifications:
- PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
- CTLLS (Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
- CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults)
- SFHEA (Senior Fellowship)
