Commercial Risk Solutions
Our Commercial Risk teams are responsible for helping clients protect their business in a world increasingly exposed to new risks, whether that’s extreme weather events or the emergence of AI. Aon aims to provide a tailored risk transfer approach as well as extensive risk management advice and services.
We assist clients with their insurance buying decisions, aiming to optimize the balance of risk transfer and retention financing through valuation and analysis.
Your Role
Join our Commercial Risk Apprenticeship scheme as a valued and permanent employee from day one. You will support clients in managing their insurance programmes and risk identification. You will work with well-known brands, ensuring they have appropriate insurance cover across a wide range of products from property to cyber.
You will join as a Business Support Specialist and play a key part in supporting clients and helping the team manage expectations and deliver on time.
During your apprenticeship, you will build professional relationships with colleagues and clients and develop your professional skills and career progression.
What the Day Will Look Like
- You will be part of a team from day one, supporting the delivery of client-facing activities
- Assisting in the day-to-day running of client risk and insurance programmes
- Carrying out administrative tasks contributing to the broking process
- Building strong working relationships with insurers
- Opportunities to support our attendance at industry networking events
Your DevelopmentAs an Aon Apprentice you will be enrolled onto our development programme when you join. This programme is built around 3 core elements:
- Business learning – on‑job learning and experiences giving you the opportunity to develop your knowledge and understanding of the team and solution line you have joined
- Centralised learning – UK apprentices complete an Aon Induction, monthly webinars, business skills training and workshops; all designed to help you develop your knowledge of Aon, build your confidence and your network across our business
- Professional Qualifications – we’ll fully support your study towards your level 4 Insurance Apprenticeship and Certificate in Insurance through the Chartered Insurance Institute professional qualification. You will receive paid study leave and extensive study and tuition materials.

With Aon business leaders playing an active role in our development, you’ll be encouraged to make the most of every networking opportunity. The early relationships you build will include:
- Your Apprentice Network – meet Apprentices from all areas of Aon in the UK, helping you navigate our business and grow a support network from day one
- Your mentor – an experienced colleague who can help you with career guidance, specific issues or general queries
- Business seniors – many experienced colleagues will be actively involved in your development
- The Early Careers Team – help smooth the way, open doors and advise you on developing your knowledge, skills and prospects
Your Career Beyond the Apprenticeship
After completing the formal apprenticeship programme, you will continue to receive support would expect you to be promotion ready within 18 to 24 months and you will continue to grow your career in the insurance industry. You will also be able to continue your studies for CII qualifications through to Chartered status and explore different career paths within Aon.
