The Role
As our Band Performance Coach, you’ll facilitate 45-minute BandMates group sessions with up to eight students. You’ll guide young musicians in developing tight live arrangements, listening and playing as a unit, and preparing for exciting performances. Sessions take place at our Northampton studio, where your energy, musicianship, and leadership will help students grow in confidence and musicality.
While our curriculum and support materials give you a strong foundation, we’re looking for someone who can bring sessions to life with great energy, musical direction, and a knack for making every rehearsal fun, focused, and rewarding.
Who We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Strong teaching or facilitation background, ideally with youth or group ensembles.
- Skilled in at least two of the following: guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, vocals.
- Some experience in live sound engineering, setting up simple band mixes for rehearsal settings.
- Confident to demonstrate and support all core band instruments at a basic level.
- Comfortable leading small groups and adapting arrangements to different abilities.
- Great communicator with natural charisma and motivational presence.
- Recent Enhanced DBS check (within last 3 years)
- Full UK driving licence and access to transport.
- Public liability and professional indemnity insurance.
- Highly organised and committed to providing a high standard of sessions.
- Live within a 30-minute commute of Northampton.
- Right to live and work in the UK.
Desirable:
- Experience running youth bands, school ensembles, or performance groups.
- Background in event or performance preparation.
- Familiarity with pop, rock, funk, and other contemporary genres.
- Experience teaching a range of ages (especially 7–16).
- Degree or training in music or music education.

Position: Self-employed contractor
Hours: 4–12 hours per week
Pay: £22.50 – £32.00 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications, references required)
Location: In-person at K2 House Business Centre, Heathfield Way, Northampton NN5 7QP
Experience: Minimum 2 years teaching or group facilitation experience
Education: A-Level or equivalent preferred
