Overview
Level 3 in Building Services Engineering Technician 2022.
This will enable you to develop a knowledge and understanding of various building services design principles used in electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems along with project management, technical reporting and communication skills.
Working on various low-carbon energy projects, you will be helping us to shape the UK’s Net Zero future.

Technical Apprenticeships - The Detail

As part of a 3 month work placement across all departments, you'll be working with a team of experienced Designers, Project Managers, Engineers, and Commercial Managers. You will have fantastic opportunities to experience all aspects of the business, learning as you go.
Working alongside your supervisor/mentor you will:
Develop knowledge and understanding of building services design principlesUse project management systems during the construction process in order to ensure projects are delivered on time and to budgetWork alongside the commercial team to understand contractual agreements, review the financial performance of a project and support the procurement processUnderstand Health & Safety requirements and how to comply with safe working practicesManage day to day activities on site which are relevant to your skills, training and experienceAssist testing and commissioning activities on siteProduce technical reports using engineering terminologyDevelop your communication skills by delivering Heath & Safety tool box talks, liaising with sub-contractors and producing project reports
At the end of the programme you will receive an Advanced Level 3 Building Services Engineering Technician 2022 qualification.
The qualification will be delivered by a college, which you will attend on a day release basis.
Your annual salary will be £15,000 - £16,500 dependent on location, with regular pay reviews.
A normal working week would be Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm, totalling 40 hours per week.
Once qualified, apprentices will progress on to a Level 4 or Degree Apprenticeship in a specialist area such as Quantity Surveying, Building Services, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering.

This role may require periods of working away from home. All travel and hotel costs are subsidised by Vital Energi.

Aidan Whetham
Aidan quit his Sports Studies degree at University in favour of an apprenticeship at Vital Energi. Now in the 2nd year of his apprenticeship Aidan has claimed the BSE won both the Technician/Project Engineer Apprentice category and the overall BESA National Apprentice of the Year Award.

Technical Apprentice Harvey Hudson has worked in various departments across Vital Energi and also been on-site on major projects such as the New Cross Hospital solar farm. Harvey won the level 3-4 CIBSE Apprentice of the Year award.
