We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Training and Education Officer in the Adult Social Care Workforce Learning and Development Team.
Are you a qualified Social Worker with practice educator experience who is passionate about social work learning and development? Are you interested in developing and delivering learning opportunities for Social Workers and supporting continuing professional development for Adult Social Care staff? Are you passionate about improving services for adults with care and support needs and their carers? Do you have experience of training staff in partnership networks with universities?
If the answer to these is yes, then you could be just the person the Adult Social Care Workforce Learning and Development Team are looking for to join our team as a Senior Training and Education Officer.

The Opportunity In the role of Adult Social Care Senior Training and Education officer , here’s an example of what you’ll be doing to make an impact:
- Plan, design, coordinate, deliver and commission learning and development opportunities and training for Social Workers in Adult Social Care
- Work alongside the Adult Social Care Principal Social Worker to support the professional development of the Adult Social Care workforce
- Support colleagues to access a range of learning and development qualifications including apprenticeships, Assessed and Supported Year in Employment for newly qualified social workers, and formal continuing professional development for Social Workers such as practice education, Best Interests Assessor and Aproved Mental Health Professional qualifications
- Arrange and facilitate practice learning opportunities for students undertaking placements in Derby city working closely with Higher Education Institutes and the Adult Social Care workforce
About You To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have…
- A Social Work degree or equivalent social work qualification
- Current registration with Social Work England
- A post qualification award in social work, such as Practice Education Award, Best Interests Assessor or Approved Mental Health Professional qualifications
- A relevant training or teaching qualification
- Experience of complex social work with adults, assessment, support planning, safeguarding adults enquiries, risk assessment, management and enablement, strengths-based approaches and community-led support
- Good knowledge and understanding of the legal framework of Adult Social Care and health, including the Care Act (2014), the Mental Health Act (1983), The Mental Capacity Act (2005), the Human Rights Act (1998) and the Equality Act (2010)
- Good knowledge and understanding of social work theories and values, and ability to apply these to social work practice
- Good partnership working, communication, influencing and negotiation skills
- The ability to support, mentor and coach social care professionals to develop and grow in their career and practice
- The ability to work innovatively with a range of key stakeholders to meet the requirements of the service, and be committed to the delivery of high quality learning and development activities
- Provide leadership to individuals, teams and managers in establishing, maintaining and developing high standards of professional practice in social work
