About Us King’s Centre for International Education and Languages is a new, cross-cutting Centre designed to widen the educational reach of King’s. It brings together three existing areas: King’s Foundations, Summer Programmes, and King’s Language Centre. This brings together international pathway provision, pre sessional programmes, pre-UG summer courses, UG summer modules, UG language modules, bespoke language programmes for the community and our partners and academic skills provision for all King’s students. Each of these areas are well established, respected and recognised within and beyond the King’s community. The Centre is focused on enabling collaboration between the three departments to further advance our work in promoting educational excellence and supporting and enhancing the student experience. The Centre has significant expertise in International Education and makes a significant contribution to the rich and diverse make-up of the King’s student body. About the Role We are looking for an experienced and suitably qualified Lecturer in Maths for Social Science Education and Module Leader to join King’s Foundations – a successful, friendly and thriving department located in the heart of London and the university. As module leader you will lead on the development and delivery of the Maths for Social Science module for Level 3 students on the King’s International Foundation Programme. You will ensure that the content of the module is delivered at an appropriate level, with a focus on the knowledge and skills required for relevant UG degrees at King’s. This module provides the foundations for studying a range of King’s undergraduate programmes in particular in the King’s Business School, and helps students become engaged, independent and critical learners. The module leader is responsible for completing all associated assessment, quality assurance and administrative duties for the module. They will take a lead on the development and delivery of all lectures on the module and deliver other teaching associated with the module or other relevant provision. You will also provide academic and pastoral support as personal tutor to a group of tutees, some of whom may be under-18. Please note that an enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service is a prerequisite for this role. You will also be a line manager responsible for supporting the wellbeing and development of a team of teaching staff This is an annualised post –65- 90% full time equivalent on an annualised basis working increased days per week (depending on fraction) during peak weeks for 39 weeks, and reduced days per week for 12 weeks of the off-peak weeks of the year, and you will be offered an indefinite contract. Essential criteria Relevant teaching qualification. Fellowship of HEA or willingness to complete within probationary period. Relevant postgraduate degree. Two years of relevant teaching experience, ideally on courses preparing students for undergraduate study such as a foundation year programmes, A levels or IB. Experience of high-quality materials design/ development including innovative uses of technology to enhance teaching and learning. Experience of different types of education delivery relevant to the module. This might include lectures, workshops, seminars, labs. Experience of developing assessment and assessment related tasks appropriate to level 3 delivery. Experience of, or strong interest in, the development of an inclusive curriculum. Experience of line management or supporting the development and support of colleagues.
