Skills
My skills within higher education include teaching and supporting students across business, academic skills, communication, digital literacy, EAP, and research-focused modules within foundation and undergraduate programmes. I have experience designing and delivering inclusive teaching sessions, workshops, and blended learning activities that support diverse learners and improve student engagement, progression, and achievement.
I have strong experience in assessment and feedback practices, curriculum support, moderation, quality assurance processes, and student academic guidance. I am particularly skilled in supporting widening participation students, including international learners and those returning to education after long gaps in study, through structured teaching approaches and personalised academic support.
In addition, I bring experience in programme coordination, peer support, curriculum enhancement, and the use of digital learning platforms such as Moodle and Microsoft educational tools to support teaching and learning. My research background also enables me to integrate current educational practices, critical thinking, and research-informed teaching into the classroom.
I am especially interested in teaching and contributing to areas related to business studies, academic and professional skills development, employability, communication, leadership, higher education pedagogy, and student success. I am also interested in supporting curriculum innovation and helping students develop the practical, academic, and professional skills required for future employment and lifelong learning.
About
I am an experienced higher education lecturer and academic skills specialist with a PhD in Educational Leadership and School Improvement, currently teaching within the Canterbury Christ Church University partnership at Global Banking School (GBS). My experience spans foundation and undergraduate teaching in business, academic skills, communication, digital skills, EAP, and student development across diverse higher education settings.
Throughout my academic career, I have focused strongly on student engagement, progression, retention, and academic success, particularly within widening participation and diverse learner contexts. I have experience teaching across multiple modules and cohorts, delivering face-to-face and blended learning, providing one-to-one academic support, and contributing to curriculum enhancement, assessment, moderation, and quality assurance processes.
In previous roles, including Programme Coordinator and Lecturer at Ravensbourne University London, I supported programme delivery, curriculum planning, staff collaboration, peer observations, and student support initiatives. I have also contributed to teaching innovation through workshops, targeted academic interventions, and practical teaching approaches designed to improve student confidence and achievement.
Alongside teaching, I am research-active with peer-reviewed publications in higher education, educational leadership, pedagogy, AI in education, and workforce development. I also have a forthcoming textbook with Palgrave Macmillan titled Doing Qualitative Research in Education: Foundations and Applications.
I am particularly interested in senior teaching and academic leadership roles within higher education that combine high-quality teaching, student success, curriculum development, module leadership, and collaborative academic practice. My long-term goal is to continue progressing within higher education through teaching excellence, research, and leadership contributions that support both student outcomes and institutional development.
