About
Dear Hiring Committee,
With reference to the Lecturer position advertised on your institution;s website, I am pleased to submit my application for this role. Holding a Ph.D. in Environmental Technology, a Master’s degree, and a Bachelor’s (Hons) in Chemistry, along with 12 years of teaching and research experience, I am eager to contribute to your institution’s academic excellence and advance its research and student-centered teaching practices.
Currently, I serve as Head of the Science Department at Swinburne University of Technology, Sarawak Campus. Over the past several years, I have balanced academic and administrative leadership responsibilities, fostering both pedagogical innovation and departmental efficiency. My teaching portfolio includes core units such as Chemistry 1, Chemistry 2, Environmental Engineering, Science and Engineering Project, and Engineering Materials and Characterization (a unit I developed and delivered for undergraduates). I developed the curricula for Foundation Chemistry and Introduction to Biology and taught both units for foundation students. The consistently positive student feedback I have received underscores my ability to communicate complex concepts effectively and cultivate strong student-instructor relationships.
My research expertise is evidenced by publications in international journals, participation in global conferences, and successful acquisition of government-funded grants totalling RM211,000. I am currently supervising one PhD and three Master’s students and have mentored numerous final-year research projects in chemical engineering and interdisciplinary fields, resulting in collaborative publications.
To refine my pedagogical approach, I completed a Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching (GCLT) from Swinburne University, Melbourne, equipping me with advanced strategies for outcome-based education. I am also a Professional Member of the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) and the Institut Kimia Malaysia (IKM), reflecting my commitment to industry-aligned teaching standards.
Prior to my current role, I was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), where I collaborated on multidisciplinary projects in the Bioprocess Department (Chemical Engineering Faculty), co-supervised postgraduate students, and served as a Part-Time Lecturer for postgraduate Food Science courses. During my Ph.D. at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), I contributed to collaborative environmental science research projects as part of a dynamic team.
I am confident that my blend of academic rigor, leadership experience, and dedication to student success aligns with your institution’s mission. I would welcome the opportunity to enhance your programs through innovative teaching and impactful research.
Attached is my curriculum vitae for your review. Should you require further details or wish to schedule a discussion, please contact me at +60-10-361 0061 or via email at bazlulmobin@gmail.com.

Yours sincerely,
Md Bazlul Mobin Siddique
