About
I hold an MSc in TESOL (Distinction) and a CELTA (Distinction), with an academic research background and experience teaching both pre-sessional and in-sessional EAP. I am particularly keen to bring my interactive teaching approach, research-informed pedagogy, and warm, student-centred classroom practice to support international students at your institution. I currently work as an EAP Instructor at Kaplan International College London on a university pathways programme, where I teach modules in EAP, Extended English Language, and Foundation Research Projects, alongside delivering independent tutorials and conducting formative and summative assessments in academic writing and speaking. My eight years experience in EFL has provided a strong foundation in communicative language teaching, particularly in designing learner-centred, interaction-driven tasks that promote meaningful language use. I adapt these principles to academic contexts by embedding academic discourse, critical thinking, and assessment awareness within the EAP curriculum. This role has strengthened my assessment literacy and my ability to support students in developing academic independence in preparation for undergraduate and postgraduate study. Previously, I taught on the University of the Arts London Pre-sessional, supporting international art and design students to develop academic skills through tutorials, academic writing and speaking tasks, and the use of digital learning platforms. I have experience adapting materials for VLE delivery, contributing to standardisation and assessment processes, and supporting students from a wide range of linguistic, cultural, and educational backgrounds. My teaching was recognised through a successful BALEAP inspection and an outstanding internal observation (available upon request). I hold an MSc in TESOL from the University of Bristol, with a strong grounding in research methods, academic writing, and critical engagement with sources. I have also worked as a Research Assistant on a university research project, where I analysed data and co-presented findings at Parliament. This experience informs my EAP teaching, particularly in supporting students to develop academic study skills, research awareness, and confidence in engaging with academic texts and ideas.
