Skills
I served as Deputy Head of the Mathematics Panel, where I support curriculum planning, assessment alignment, and departmental development. In this role, I have worked closely with the Head of Department to review schemes of work, analyse student performance data, and implement strategies to improve attainment across ability ranges. I am confident in teaching mixed-ability classes as well as supporting higher-attaining and examination-focused groups. My teaching approach emphasises conceptual understanding, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills. I make use of clear explanations, structured questioning, and formative assessment to ensure students are actively engaged and confident in their learning. I am experienced in preparing students for high-stakes public examinations and understand the importance of balancing procedural fluency with mathematical thinking. Beyond the classroom, I have taken on a number of pastoral and leadership responsibilities. As Chairperson of the Student and Alumni Affairs Committee, I have worked to strengthen student engagement, promote positive school culture, and maintain strong relationships with past students. I have also served as Deputy Chairperson of the Extra-curricular Activities Committee, supporting the organisation of school-wide programmes that encourage student participation, teamwork, and personal development. My role as Deputy Adviser of the Class Committee has further developed my pastoral skills. I regularly support students social, emotional, and academic needs, working closely with form teachers and senior staff to ensure appropriate guidance and support are provided. These experiences have strengthened my ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. I am highly motivated to contribute to a UK college and am committed to adapting my practice to the curriculum and school context. I value collaboration, reflective practice, and continuous professional development. I believe my strong subject knowledge, leadership experience, and commitment to student progress would enable me to make a positive contribution to your Mathematics department and wider schoolcommunity.
