Skills
I have strong skills in lesson planning and delivering GCSE English, differentiating for mixed-ability learners, and supporting students with exam preparation and academic writing. I am experienced in effective classroom management, building positive relationships, and maintaining high expectations in challenging environments. I communicate clearly with students and colleagues, adapt quickly to new settings, and demonstrate a strong commitment to professional development. My subject knowledge in English and experience supporting diverse learners transfer well to a college and further education setting.
About
Having worked as an unqualified English teacher in secondary school settings since 2022, I am now keen to transition into a college environment where I can engage more deeply with subject-specific teaching and support students who are more independent and motivated in their learning. I am particularly drawn to the further education sector because it allows for more mature academic discussion, a stronger focus on preparing learners for higher education or employment, and opportunities to specialise in English at GCSE and post-16 level. I believe my experience in supporting diverse learners, managing classrooms effectively, and adapting lessons to individual needs would transfer well to a college setting, while also allowing me to continue developing professionally and work towards formal teaching qualifications.
