About
Summary of Experience
I am an academic and laboratory professional with extensive experience in teaching, research, and clinical laboratory practice across biological, biomedical, and health sciences. I hold a PhD in Medical Parasitology, alongside postgraduate qualifications in Public Health and Management, and over two decades of professional experience spanning university teaching, international research institutions, and NHS clinical laboratories.
My teaching experience includes delivering undergraduate and postgraduate lectures, laboratory practical, tutorials, and research supervision in microbiology, molecular biology, parasitology, infectious diseases, and public health. I have taught in universities in Nigeria and Central Africa and have supported postgraduate laboratory training in collaboration with international research institutions. I am experienced in developing teaching materials, supervising practical and laboratory-based learning, assessing student work, and providing constructive academic feedback.
Alongside teaching, I have a strong research background, with peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals and experience working at internationally recognised institutions such as the Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia (LSHTM) and the University of Tübingen. This enables me to deliver research-informed teaching and to support students in developing critical thinking, scientific writing, and data analysis skills.
My current role as a Higher Medical Laboratory Assistant at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust strengthens my practical teaching and supervision skills, particularly in laboratory safety, quality assurance, governance, and professional standards. I bring a strong understanding of health and safety, ethics, data protection, and inclusive practice to all teaching activities. I am highly committed to student support, equality, diversity, and continuous professional development.
