Skills
I bring a wide range of transferable industry skills that I am keen to embed within education, including advanced clinical assessment, safeguarding, public health promotion, and evidence-based decision-making developed across paediatric, community, and acute care settings. I have strong skills in communication, mentoring, and facilitation, with experience supporting students, newly qualified staff, and multidisciplinary teams to translate theory into safe, compassionate practice. I am particularly motivated to teach clinical reasoning, professional accountability, family-centred care, and inclusive practice, alongside essential employability skills such as reflective practice, leadership, resilience, and interprofessional working. Drawing on real-world clinical experience, I aim to prepare students for the realities of contemporary nursing by fostering critical thinking, confidence, and a strong professional identity aligned with NMC standards.
About
I am an experienced Specialist Community Public Health Nurse and educator with a strong academic and clinical foundation, holding a BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies from the University of Chester, a PGDip in Paediatric Nursing from Sheffield Hallam University, and a PGDip in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Health Visiting) from Manchester Metropolitan University, alongside further professional development in General Practice Nursing at Salford University. My diverse career across paediatric critical care, community health visiting, safeguarding, and special educational needs has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of child development, family-centred care, and evidence-based practice. I have extensive experience supporting students and junior staff in clinical settings, contributing to teaching resources, delivering presentations, and promoting reflective practice. I am now seeking a Nursing Lecturer position at the University of Chester where I can combine my clinical expertise, academic experience, and passion for inclusive, high-quality education to support student nurses in developing the knowledge, skills, and professional values required for contemporary nursing practice.
