About
I am Ellen Thaels, a clinical academic midwife. I have over 11 years of experience working as a midwife for the NHS in different maternity wards. Currently I am a band 7 birth centre team lead (0.3 WTE in job-share). In January 2025, I was awarded with a PhD degree at the University of Central Lancashire. Since September 2024, I am working on a short-term contract at Kings College London as a research associate on 'The BEACON Project'. Furthermore, I am one of the co-directors of the Midwifery Unit Network. I have provided workshops for over 500 graduate and post-graduate workshop participants (student midwives, midwives, obstetricians, pediatricians, anesthetists, doula's, etc.). As a clinician and academic, I have been invited as a guest lecturer (BSc and MSc programs in midwifery) and presenter during conferences in the UK and further afield.
