Skills
Through over eight years of experience in healthcare, I have developed a wide range of skills that are directly transferable to an educational setting. My background as both a Physician Associate and Operating Department Practitioner has equipped me with excellent communication, organisation, and critical-thinking skills that are vital in supporting and inspiring learners. Within my clinical roles, I have delivered in-house teaching sessions and mentored students on placement, helping them to develop clinical competence, confidence, and reflective practice. These experiences have strengthened my ability to explain complex scientific and health-related concepts clearly, adapt my teaching style to different learning needs, and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement, all of which are essential for effective teaching and assessment in further education. From an industry perspective, I bring extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, health promotion, patient care, and professional standards, which can be used to enrich classroom learning with real-world relevance. My experience working within multidisciplinary teams has also developed strong collaboration, leadership, and interpersonal skills, allowing me to model the teamwork and professionalism expected in the health and social care sector. Overall, I bring both the technical expertise and educational skills necessary to engage learners, promote independent study, and prepare students for progression into health and social care careers.
About
I am a dedicated and compassionate healthcare professional with over eight years of experience across primary care, surgical, and multidisciplinary clinical environments. Holding an MSc in Physician Associate Studies and a BSc (Hons) in Operating Department Practice, I bring a strong scientific foundation and a deep understanding of health, wellbeing, and evidence-based care. Alongside my clinical practice, I have developed a strong interest and proven ability in teaching and mentoring. I have delivered in-house training sessions to colleagues and multidisciplinary teams and have mentored students in both my roles as a Physician Associate and Operating Department Practitioner, supporting their learning, confidence, and professional development. These experiences have strengthened my ability to communicate complex medical and social care concepts clearly and to inspire others to achieve their potential. I am now seeking to apply these skills in a formal teaching capacity in a lecturer role, where I can contribute to high-quality education that bridges theory and practice. I am passionate about student engagement, developing critical thinking, and supporting learners to progress into successful healthcare and social care careers. With excellent communication, organisation, and reflective practice skills, I aim to promote a positive, inclusive, and innovative learning environment that empowers every student to thrive.
