Skills
Throughout my career, I have consistently motivated and inspired others through dynamic and inclusive teaching methods in all areas of the performing arts. I have taken on pastoral roles, where I have supported students and adults , fostering both artistic and personal growth. I have successfully managed and inspired theatre productions, overseeing budgets as well as extracurricular activities that have raised the profile of performing arts wherever I have worked. My leadership roles have involved mentoring and liaising with diverse student cohorts, cultivating a creative and supportive learning environment. Working in inner city London for many years, I have enjoyed working with people of all abilities and backgrounds sharing my passion for the performing arts in an inclusive and organically successful way. Alongside this experience, I have enjoyed working as a professional Choreographer and director in TV, theatre and film. I have worked in numerous educational institutions engaging with a broad age range and cultural diversity, especially during my sabbatical in Houston and my role within the MOD in Germany. My leadership roles (Head of Department, APM and Consultant) require staff management, student mentorship, and liaison with external bodies, which all require excellent interpersonal communication. All this experience has led to a proven ability to foster inclusive, effective communication across diverse student populations and international educational contexts.
About
I hold a BA (Hons) in Movement and Dance from Laban Trinity, in addition to this I have had qualified teacher status since 2007, which provides a solid academic foundation across multiple performing arts disciplines. In addition to my formal education, I bring over 20 years of professional and educational experience in dance, acting, music and musical theatre. In 2019, I completed a para movement inclusivity certificate which provided me with additional training for working with SEND individuals. Throughout my career, I have worked as a lecturer in over 10 educational environments, teaching across a diverse range of performing arts curricula. My industry background includes work in theatre, television, and film not only as a performer but also as a choreographer and director which keeps my practice current and aligned with professional standards. This blend of academic training and real-world application has given me a strong and well-rounded knowledge of drama, music, and dance, and how to teach and apply them effectively in both educational and industry settings. I have over 20 years of experience designing and delivering performing arts programmes across a range of educational settings, including further and higher education institutions. I have planned and delivered comprehensive programmes in dance, musical theatre, and drama. I have devised numerous engaging performing arts workshops including physical theatre, tap dance, circus skills, Fosse and Robbins, and the work of Sarah Kane. In addition, I have facilitated many others collaborating with outside practitioners including The Almeida Theatre, The Soho Theatre, Frantic Assembly, The BBC, Irie Dance, Sadler's Wells, The V&A and Studio Wayne McGregor. I have also led extra-curricular performance programmes, including over 50 large-scale musical productions including projects with The National Theatre, all of which actively engage students and teachers beyond the classroom experience. My recent sabbatical in Houston, Texas, expended my expertise in management, which involved leading over 1000 young people in a range of programs and performance showcases. This year, I have had the opportunity of becoming Acting Assistant Program Manager for performing arts which has broaden my skills in time management, logistics, marketing, problem solving and team coordination.
