Skills
Although I have not yet taught formally, I have experience mentoring in the cycling world, leading design workshops with groups, and presenting architectural work to diverse audiences. These experiences have honed my ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and inclusively skills that are directly transferable to teaching. My technical expertise includes sustainable design methods, building physics, daylighting studies, and timber construction, alongside strong project coordination and problem-solving skills developed on live projects. I am especially keen to support students in developing a practical understanding of sustainability, collaboration, and construction processes, while fostering confidence and creativity in their design thinking. My enthusiasm and collaborative mindset will allow me to contribute positively to the learning environment at Bath Spa University, despite being at the beginning of my teaching career.
About
I am a recently qualified architect and I am building a career dedicated to challenging conventional systems in the construction industry. My focus is on sustainable, socially responsible design that prioritises environmental and human well-being. Since completing my undergraduate degree, I have worked at Agile, a design, manufacture, and build company specialising in panelised construction using timber and natural materials. While primarily based in the design team, I have built strong relationships with the construction side of the business, spending six months working regularly from the site office on my main project in Bristol. My professional and academic experience spans socially responsible, sustainable design and innovative construction, all of which I am eager to share within an educational setting. Through projects such as Stonebridge Park an award-winning housing scheme for residents with lived experience of homelessness and Stallcombe House sheltered accommodation for adults with autism I have developed a design approach that balances technical rigour with social and environmental responsibility. Recently I have been leading the design of a Senior Co-Housing project, guiding it through to a recent planning submission. My portfolio demonstrates experience across all RIBA work stages, from feasibility to completion, and a strong focus on modern methods of construction, particularly timber and panelised systems. I am motivated to bring this breadth of experience into the studio, guiding students to connect design principles with real-world application and to understand the importance of architecture as both a creative and socially impactful discipline.
