About
Roslyn Allwood Employability Tutor I am a qualified teacher, assessor and Internal quality assurer. Why do I want to undertake this role? I like making a difference to students lives, enabling them to secure a more enriched life. I have been teaching full time at Inspire for 3 years and thoroughly enjoy the challenge of teaching different courses, developing resources and the different students that I help to succeed, pushing them forward to thrive. I have been teaching, assessing and an IQA for nine years. I work to policies and procedures and up to date with my CPD. How does your experience and skills make you suitable? In 2016 I worked at Nottingham college for six years, I assessed the students in Health and social care L3 extended diploma and L2 extended diploma and L2 work based diploma for 16 19-year students, I had 100% pass rates. I embedded Maths and English throughout their studies. I have 25 years industry health and social care experience. My current role I deliver Employability Aim award entry level 3 and level 1 and level 2, this also covers personal and social development. I teach this three times a week to 19+ adults in the community. Some are SEND students and need help and support with reading and writing or to gain their confidence to go back to employment, in addition to this they gain two accredited Aim certificate to assist them to gain access to employment. I adapt my resources according to the student needs; I also embed Maths and English. I deliver my courses to a high standard, design, plan and deliver my power points, SOW and resources. Maths and English is embedded in my starter activities and handouts. In addition to that, I teach a class with SEND students 19+ over the past 3 years. I have been working with students from Portland College and teaching them Employability, personal and social development, I have delivered NCFE preparing to teach in schools and NCFE Support work in schools and colleges L2, I have delivered NCFE Childhood studies level 1 and level 2, Currently I am delivering Health and social care extended diploma Level 2, in the course content it has M2 Human growth and development and M3 Safeguard children. Since 2022 I have collected the students from Portland college reception, they have learned valuable life skills of catching the bus to Nottingham confetti college and walking from Victoria bus stop to college, using maths and English and social skills. Once at the college I delivered Occupational studies E3, L1, L2. In addition to this they gained life skills of ordering food, money and developed their confidence, social and development skills. The skills and attributes that I need for this job are endless, but my main ones that I always get told is that I have lots of patience, empathetic, kind, calm and compassionate and attention to detail and the motivation to get things done.
