About
I am an experienced academic in psychology with over 20 years of teaching, research, and programme leadership in higher education. Most recently as Associate Professor of Psychology at Buckinghamshire New University, I successfully designed, developed, and led the MSc Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP), a programme that attracts international cohorts and has been described by students as “life-changing” and “transformative.” I have extensive experience in curriculum innovation, including the application of technology-enhanced learning, and have mentored colleagues and doctoral researchers.
My research spans positive psychology, wellbeing, and the psychology of luck, with over 30 published outputs and successful grant income from funders including the Leverhulme Trust, Bial Foundation, and Perrott-Warrick Fund. I have supervised doctoral students to completion and presented at international conferences, contributing to the visibility of applied positive psychology and interdisciplinary research.
Alongside my academic achievements, I have a strong record of external engagement, including co-organising the UK Applied Positive Psychology Symposium, consulting with organisations on wellbeing and leadership, and contributing to media discussions of psychology. I bring a passion for teaching, a track record of research-informed practice, and a commitment to supporting students and colleagues to flourish.
