Problem Solving Skills: During my time with Nottingham City Council’s waste services, I often had to think on my feet—for example, when access to properties was blocked or when bad weather impacted the route. I worked closely with the team to quickly adapt and find safe, efficient solutions to keep the service running.

Presentation Skills: In roles involving public-facing work, such as waste collection and cleaning in residential areas, I made sure to present myself professionally and treat members of the public with courtesy. I understand the importance of personal hygiene, cleanliness, and making a good impression—especially in hospitality.

Initiative: In both warehouse and production environments, I was trusted to work independently once trained. I often identified and completed tasks without being asked—like cleaning workstations or reorganising stock to speed up processes for others.

I've always been fascinated by how vehicles work, and I enjoy working with my hands to solve mechanical problems. The role of a light vehicle technician really interests me because it combines practical, hands-on work with technical knowledge. I'm eager to learn how to diagnose faults, service vehicles, and carry out repairs that keep cars running safely and efficiently. I also like that the job is always evolving with new technologies like electric and hybrid vehicles, which means there’s always something new to learn. Being part of a team that keeps people safe on the road gives me a real sense of purpose."
