Skills
My background in elite sport and physical performance coaching provides a strong foundation for transitioning into teaching. I have developed key skills that align closely with the requirements of an educational environment, especially in areas like physical education, sport science, and health and well-being.
Here’s how my experience transfers into teaching:
• Curriculum Planning & Delivery:
I’ve designed and delivered structured physical development curriculums across academy age groups, which mirrors the planning and differentiation required in a classroom or PE setting.
• Assessment & Progress Tracking:
Through regular growth, maturation, and performance testing, I’ve developed the ability to assess individual progress, tailor interventions, and report clearly—skills directly relevant to monitoring pupil attainment and learning outcomes.
• Communication & Engagement:
My experience delivering player education sessions and coach workshops has strengthened my ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, adapting content for different learning styles and age groups.
• Behaviour Management & Leadership:
Leading group sessions in high-performance environments has equipped me with strong group management skills, the ability to maintain engagement, and a calm, professional presence—key qualities for classroom or practical teaching.
• Holistic Support & Safeguarding Awareness:
I’ve supported young athletes’ physical, emotional, and lifestyle needs through performance programs, and I hold a full PVG certification—demonstrating my commitment to safeguarding and student well-being.
• Use of Technology in Learning:
I’m confident using tools like Excel, PlayerTek, and Catapult to track and present data, and I can transfer these digital skills into classroom settings for lesson planning, progress reporting, and interactive learning.
